DOA logotype

DOA is a duo of lamps — one in wood, one in metal — born from a single brief: take two materials and understand them completely. How they behave, how they transform, how they come together. From that understanding, the design followed.

Concept

Both lamps use thermal finishing techniques — yakisugi on the wood, thermal oxidation on the metal — letting each material react and change on its own terms rather than forcing a uniform result.

That's the core of the project: even within an industrial process, built on the same rules for every piece, no two lamps come out the same. Letting the material respond is what turns a repeatable process into something one-of-a-kind.

Proposals

DOA — lámpara de madera con técnica yakisugi

Wood

Warm, natural, imperfect.

This lamp is built in wood and treated with the Japanese Yakisugi technique, which uses fire to partially char the surface.

The heat brings out the natural grain and transforms its color, making every piece different.

No lamp is like another. Each one carries the mark of its process.

DOA — lámpara de metal con oxidación térmica

Metal

Cold, precise, structural.

This lamp is built in 304 steel and treated with a thermal oxidation technique. The colors are the trace of fire on the metal; where the heat was most intense, the steel reveals permanent blues and purples.

No lamp is like another. Each one carries the mark of its process.
